Many times aluminum wiring is not so easy to see in a crowded electrical panel, but other times it is real easy to see when it is by itself. The letters "AL" are prominent on the wiring jacket, and aluminum has been know to the the cause of electrical fires. All wiring expands at a certain rate, and aluminum expands at a different rate than copper. The screw in the receptacle, the wall switch, or the circuit breaker is made of steel which has its' own rate of expansion. After many years of expansion and contraction at different rates, the screws tend to loosen.
