We have inspected many homes in Suffolk county, and old homes can have issues as well as newer homes - especially 'flipped' homes. Homes in poor condition or  that are in need of major repairs are often purchased cheaply and undergo a cosmetic renovation, but online are listed as 'renovated' or even 'completely renovated'.

Rarely is this the case. We often find original vintage ungrounded wiring which at some point needs replacing. We also encounter original galvanized drain piping which rusts internally and can clog or become slow to drain. This is not found in a renovated home - partially renovated is more like it. Deficiencies like in the picture to the right  revealed by our inspectors such the ones mentioned, or other things like as low or loose railings are mentioned in our reports and we take lots of pictures, many of which are included in your report.

Many homes are 'bungalow' homes - small homes that were built in the 30's-50's that were used as summer getaway homes by people who lived in New York city's five boroughs, and were only occupied in summer months. Many originally had no means of heat. But as time went on, and Long Islands' population increased, these homes began being used full time, and people began to realize their size limitations, as well as heating, cooling and safety deficiencies. 

Many of these homes were added onto, then added onto again, and again until you had a home with rooms that did not match, siding which did not match, and had unusual converging rooflines that were not aesthetically pleasing.
