Miller Place Home Inspection: Loose trim can channel water into home

Home Inspection Miller Place: Poor pitch and loose aluminum causes problems

Not only can rainwater enter, but the whole trim piece is also pitched so that water will pool on the trim. This can cause water to enter at the base of the window and cause interior issues like mold growth and water damage.

The siding contractor should have done a better job at making this aluminum when the window was trimmed out. This is either due to poor bending skills or laziness.

But make no mistake I recommended to my client that this be repaired once he moves in by a qualified and licensed siding contractor.

So if you need an experienced home inspector with hands-on construction background, we are available 7 days a week.
