Home Inspection Seaford NY: Exterior service wiring with a deteriorated jacket should be replaced.

This wiring is not replaced by the local power company and is the responsibility of the homeowner, so when I see this damage it obviously is entered into the report, and only a licensed electrical contractor can perform this repair.

I have seen homeowner repairs to this wiring done with electrical tape, duct tape, sleeving, etc. This is not a proper repair.

If this wiring is left as it is water can enter within the jacket and drip inside the service panel. I have opened electrical boxes to see rusty breakers, screws, and entire panels rusted out which is obviously a serious hazard.

When purchasing a home in Nassau county, hire an inspector who has the experience and background that many in this business cannot match when it comes to home inspections in Seaford.
