08 Jun Removing Pesky Bamboo From Your Home
Planting bamboo on most of Long Island is illegal as it tends to take over your property, but many people planted it to screen off their neighbor. I recently performed a home inspection in Shirley in March and none was visible, but guess what?
The buyer called me asking me if I had seen it in the rear yard because now it’s growing and growing, and it’s going to cost $30,000 to remove it.
I sent him the photos of the rear yard which had looked roto-tilled. In other words, it was likely removed and purposely sold at a time when it was not visible.
So if you see it on your neighbors property near your property line, it may grow onto your property, so the time to say something is then, and don’t wait.
